Accidentally, I grabbed a very old book at Bellevue Library.
The book's name is "Programmers At Work".

To see your recent writing about that book in this website makes me very happy.

I am very surprised that 20 years old book can be valid at this moment.
I think the bottom line of programming has not been changed even though there are so many new cutting-edge technologies can be obtained.

Thank you for knowing your existence at last.

Hi Charles - "Programmers at Work" is one of my all-time-favorite books. It was inspiring and fascinating. My "Gier Algol compiler" was the IBM BIOS source (x86 assembly in a purple IBM three-ring-binder). I'm sure it wasn't a masterpiece like the Algol compiler, but it was very easy to read, and it gave me confidence that a large piece of software could be simple in its own way. It's fascinating to see how much and how little has changed.

Charles, I never really understood by what you meant exactly by maintaing the invariances in the structure

Could you give me some precise simple examples, I'm sure it will enlighten more than one person :-)

SIMONYI: What is programming? People argue about it all the time. Some people call it a science, some people call it an art, some people call it a skill or trade. I think it has aspects of all three. We like to pretend that it has a lot of art in it, but we know it has a lot of science.

I love this quote Charles because it is so pertinent even today. I am embarking on eSingularity Initiative, a project that I believe will redefine global education by creating a media3.0 platform for edu that will allow all access. We will need talented engineers with your vision, passion and talent. I hope to engage IS in the process. We need you.

Amazing, really great work man. It's so amazing to view your work of art. I hope that you really never ever stop and maintain publishing this kind of beneficial content material on this web site.
